The brain child of  editor Tim Leighton-Boyce  this magazine grew out of BMX Action Bike, Tim was a Photo Journalist who had worked at ALPINE SPORTS putting together the Alpine Newsletter which along with the mags from the skateboard associations Kept UK skaters informed of events in the dark ages of the early 80's

Tim's work had also been published in the Sunday Times and he got RAD's format right from the 1st issue
